A 12 year-old child is removed from her parents after chemotherapy because they will not allow her to receive radiation treatments. Their three other children were taken away also.

typical visioning session-It would take an entire addition of the paper to
cover the topic thoroughly, for there are so many interrelated issues, and this
interrelatedness is what scares the pants off me. I will try to stay primarily with the issues
of the visioning sessions. I have not
talked with anyone in the Travelers Rest or Greenville area who have attended one
of the sessions there, but I guarantee I can tell pretty much what of
happens. There was been a lot of publicity
praising the sessions, as a way for community people to have some real input
into the directions the community takes the next
The year 2020 may even be bandied about there as well as here. Is has a good ring to it. Once a session gets underway, the people will be broken down into small groups of 8-20 individuals, and facilitators will conduct the group sessions. Participants will be ask to close their eyes and visualize the kind of community they want to have in the next 20 years and to write these visions down on a card, the usually listing them in priority order from one to five. Whose vision is number one? The facilitator will ask for individual visions. Which then are written on a chalkboard. People will be told that all ideas are relevant and none will be left out of consideration when the final tally is done several months down the road. Some of the ideas will be better schools, safe streets, improved transportation, park-areas, biking trails, cleaner air, purer water, less pollution. By the time the final recommen-dations are made, 3 major areas will emerge as of primary significance, environmental”. ct
